For pure photo archiving, that free tier is unbeatable. We're not going to pretend otherwise. If your goal is "never lose a single photo of this child, ever, for free," FamilyAlbum is the right call and we'd tell our own siblings the same.
So what's missing?
The words. FamilyAlbum is a photo album at heart — no journaling prompts, no quote capture, and it's light on written memories.
Which means the funniest, most heartbreaking, most them moments of your kid's childhood mostly don't fit. There's no photo of your three-year-old announcing that she doesn't like the wind because "it's too spicy." There's no photo of a first word — there's maybe a blurry video, if you were fast, but usually there's just you, standing in the kitchen, swearing you'll remember this forever. (You won't.
